What is the Procedure of AEC Test?
The procedure for AEC test is similar to that of any other blood test. A tight elastic band will be tied around your arm to make the veins swell. The area from where the blood is to be drawn will be cleaned with a sanitary liquid.
A needle will be injected into the vein to draw the blood which will be collected in a tube. After removing the needle, a cotton ball will be used to put pressure on the punctured site to stop the bleeding. The collected blood sample will be sent to the laboratory for further testing.
What Does the AEC Test Results Mean?
Generally, the normal range of eosinophil cells in the blood is less than 500 eosinophil cells per micro-liter. The level of eosinophil may vary depending on the age of the person.
The high level of eosinophil can be seen if you have any of the following medical conditions
- Parasitic infection
- Autoimmune disease
- Crohn’s disease
The low level of eosinophil level may be a result of excessive production of cortisol, Cushing’s disease or alcohol. Normally, the eosinophil level will be low in the morning and high in the evening.
